Does Homeowners Insurance Cover Foundation Repairs?

Usually homeowners insurance  does not cover “settlement” related damage. It is excluded from homeowner’s insurance policies. Still it never hurts to ask in the event there are extenuating circumstances such as broken water pipes and such that might qualify for at least some repair coverage.

New Construction: As for new construction, some builders provide warranties that extend past the first year, but most only cover the first year. Warranties vary by builder and by development. Extended warranties can last up to ten years and some cover settlement in specific circumstances.
